In September 2026, crypto callers on X and Telegram started pushing the same app: fomo.family, the fomo trading app where followers see and copy every trade a KOL makes. It is the clearest example of KOL marketing in crypto this year, and it runs almost entirely on referral links. We vetted 100+ Telegram channels, tracked 107 calls and pulled Ahrefs data to measure what the wave delivered. In four weeks, fomo.family’s top-10 Google keywords grew 67%.

What Is the fomo App?

fomo.family, better known as the fomo app, is a social crypto trading platform for memecoin trading, altcoins and stablecoins. Users discover and follow top traders in a social feed, get a real-time push notification when those traders buy, and copy-trade in one tap on web, iOS or Android. Crypto Telegram channels describe it as Twitter, Phantom and Robinhood merged into a single app.

fomo app web interface: trending memecoins, a live token chart showing traders' avatars at their entries, and a buy panel.

The app supports Solana, Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain, Base, Ethereum and Monad. Users fund trades with Apple Pay, withdraw instantly and keep custody of their crypto, according to its App Store listing, where it holds a 4.8 rating from 23K reviews. A public leaderboard ranks the top traders, so crypto callers can compete in the open.

The company raised a $2M pre-seed in February 2025, a $17M Series A led by Benchmark in November 2025 and a $75M Series B at a $550M valuation in June 2026. Backers also include Coinbase Ventures and Archetype. fomo has no token yet. DefiLlama figures cited by CIS channels in September 2026 put its fee revenue at about $500K per day, and in June Ansem told his ~1.4M followers on X he had not realized the app already had 500K users.

Research Questions

  1. How does a SocialFi app turn crypto KOLs into a sales force? Through a referral loop that pays off on both sides. The referred trader gets 10% off fees, and the KOL’s trades become public content that followers can copy.
  2. Which channels carried the September wave? Two layers did the work. English-language voices on X and Telegram built international awareness, and a small group of CIS Telegram channels delivered concentrated reach.
  3. What makes a crypto caller worth paying attention to? Track record and real attention. Subscriber count says little: only about 30 of the 112 Telegram listings we reviewed publish actual trading calls.
  4. Did the social wave show up in search? Yes. fomo.family’s top-10 Google keywords rose from 87 to 145 between August 31 and September 28, 2026.

Anatomy of the September Wave

1. How the Crypto Referral Program Turns Callers into a Sales Force

fomo.family’s crypto referral program gives every user a personal link that cuts the referred trader’s fees by 10%, so each KOL post doubles as a direct acquisition offer.

The social layer makes the loop stronger. Every profile shows trades and a follower count, and followers get notified when the trader buys. A caller’s Telegram audience can now follow them inside the app and copy their plays, which gives the caller a reason to keep posting about fomo long after a single paid placement would have ended.

In September, three post formats dominated the Telegram feeds we monitored:

FormatExampleWhat it sells
PnL proof + fee discountLevis Calls (47.3K subscribers): a fomo PnL card showing +$109,601 (+1,290%) on one trade, plus “use my link for 10% off fees”Results and savings
Follow my profilesad cat (27.9K subscribers): a pinned “My fomo page, will test it. Follow” post. The profile link still carries a referral tag. 4.8K viewsCuriosity, low commitment
Follower milestonePRIME TRADES (19K subscribers): closing in on 5,000 followers on fomo, with 50,000 named as the next goalStatus and community growth
Four Telegram posts from crypto callers promoting the fomo app with referral links: a +$109,601 PnL card, a fomo profile, a 5,000-follower milestone and a 10% fee discount, examples of crypto KOL marketing.

None of these posts reads like an ad. Each one sounds like a trader talking about their own account, and that native tone is what makes referral links convert in crypto Telegram.

❗ The main idea?
On fomo, a KOL’s PnL is the ad. Every winning trade becomes a referral creative, and every new follower is a future copy-trade.

Timing helped too. The memecoin trading that Solana callers had been missing came back on Robinhood Chain. Of the 132 calls we logged across the sample, 31 (23%) were Robinhood Chain tokens, second only to Solana with 54 (41%). Callers needed fresh content, and a trading app that put their Robinhood Chain plays on public display gave them exactly that.

2. Crypto Influencer Marketing on X: The International Layer

International awareness for fomo.family came from a handful of large English-language accounts on X, and by September a layer of English-language Telegram callers was turning that awareness into referral traffic.

Two X posts from crypto callers sharing fomo.family referral links, one with a fomo trading app portfolio and one with a token chart, examples of crypto influencer marketing on X.

Unipcs was the main organic driver of the wave. His Telegram journal posts about fomo reached 61 to 66% of his subscriber base, while a typical caller channel in our sample gets single-digit view rates. The Series B headline and Ansem’s comment gave the app credibility; Unipcs gave it a face that people wanted to follow.

Below these accounts sat the English-language caller layer. By the end of September, 12 of the 24 core callers in our sample were already promoting fomo with referral links, including EricCryptoman, BagCalls, RENZO, Levis, Matt and Pyro. Together these 12 channels have 323K subscribers and about 25.7K median views per post.

3. Crypto Telegram Marketing in the CIS: A Targeted Push

The CIS segment worked as a targeted campaign: three Russian-language Telegram channels with high view rates (the Telegram equivalent of engagement rate) delivered more attention per post than twelve international callers combined.

The CIS creative looked different from the English one. A typical September post tells a first-person sign-up story, frames fomo as “Twitter, Phantom and Robinhood in one app”, lists the investors, quotes the DefiLlama fee figure, points out that the project has no token yet (a strong hook for airdrop-minded readers), ties the app to Robinhood Chain hype and closes by asking readers to follow the author’s fomo profile. It reads like an insider tip.

CIS channelSubscribersMedian views per postView rate

Bulka Crypto52,70011,50021.8%
Trade Ultra30,6006,08519.9%
Total190,30028,78515.1%

For comparison, the 12 international callers promoting fomo reach 25.7K median views per post from 323K subscribers, a 7.9% view rate. The CIS trio delivers more views with 41% fewer subscribers. Trade 001k has a track record here too: its earlier fomo referral post reached 24.3K views, more than double the channel’s median.

Most channels in our CIS shortlist are news, education and airdrop feeds rather than callers. For a product launch, that is an advantage: their audiences are used to “sign up early” content and act on it.

4. How to Vet Crypto KOLs: The Biggest Calls of the Wave

Crypto KOL lists are mostly noise: of 112 Telegram listings we reviewed, only about 30 publish actual trading calls, and 16 “Telegram” KOLs on Korean lists turned out to be X accounts.

For the callers, we checked 107 calls with price data on Dexscreener: the price at the moment of the call, the peak within 1 hour and 24 hours, and the price 24 hours later. We flagged every late entry, where the token had already doubled before the post went out.

The strongest calls in the sample:

CallerToken (chain)Call datePeak within 24h
blockzeroGSTOCK (BSC)Sep 17, 202644.2x
RachelWolchinFRANK (Solana)Jul 28, 202616.0x

RachelWolchinLOUIE (Solana)Aug 8, 20268.9x
BagCallsTALIS (Robinhood Chain)Sep 25, 20265.2x

Across all 107 calls, roughly one in four (27%) doubled within a day. The best callers did it far more often: BagCalls went 4 for 4 and EricCryptoman 3 for 6, which is why callers are worth vetting before you pay them. ICODA keeps curated shortlists of crypto callers and Telegram channels for the English-speaking, CIS, Korean and Chinese markets, ranked by track record and median views rather than subscriber counts.

5. Did KOL Marketing Move Search? What Ahrefs Shows

The fomo app’s Google visibility grew fastest in the same weeks the KOL wave peaked.

Ahrefs organic positions chart for fomo.family showing top-3, top-10 and top-20 Google keywords surging in September 2026.
Metric (Ahrefs)Aug 31, 2026Sep 28, 2026Change
Top-10 keywords, global87145+67%
Top-3 keywords, global4968+39%
Top-10 keywords, US4985+73%
Estimated organic traffic, global21.6K32.8K (Sep 21 peak)+52%

The steepest jump came between September 7 and September 21, when global top-10 keywords went from 99 to 148. People heard about fomo in a feed, then searched Google for the fomo app. Ahrefs data alone does not prove causation, but the week-by-week timing lines up with the referral wave. Paid ads stop when the budget does, while rankings earned off a social wave keep bringing in users after the posts scroll away.

Campaign Highlights

  • πŸš€ 25.4K views on Unipcs’ “500,000 followers on fomo” post, the most-viewed fomo post in our Telegram sample.
  • πŸš€ +$109,601 on a single trade, shared by Levis Calls as a PnL card next to a 10% fee discount link.
  • πŸš€ 44.2x within 24 hours on blockzero’s GSTOCK call, the biggest move we tracked in September.

Intelligence Bonus: What the Caller Market Revealed

Beyond visibility, the data showed how the caller market actually behaves:

  • Callers copy each other. BOTIFY and CATE were each called by 5 channels within days; CALI and SEND by 4. Original calls are scarcer than they look, so a caller’s value lies in being first.
  • Late entries are common. In 14 of 107 calls (13%), the token had already doubled before the post went out.
  • Lists are padded. About 30 of 112 listings are real callers. The rest are ads, news, airdrop feeds or X accounts filed under Telegram.
  • View rate beats subscriber count. CIS channels in our sample averaged a 15.1% view rate against 7.9% for international callers.

Conclusion

❌ Before September 2026:

  • Referral activity was scattered: a Korean waitlist wave in February 2025, then no English-language Telegram mention until October 2025, eight months later.
  • Search visibility was modest, with 87 top-10 Google keywords globally on August 31.
  • The caller market was mostly noise: only about 30 of 112 listings publish real calls.

βœ… What the September wave delivered:

  • 12 of 24 core callers promoting fomo with referral links.
  • Top-10 Google keywords up 67% globally and 73% in the US.
  • A targeted CIS Telegram push delivering ~29K median views per post from just 3 channels.
  • Calls of up to 44.2x within 24 hours, feeding the PnL content that drives referrals.

The model works for crypto app promotion wherever there is a referral loop and visible results: trading terminals, wallets, prediction markets. Most Web3 marketing still buys caller posts by subscriber count. Brands that pick channels by view rate and track record get more attention for the same effort, and their competitors usually have not figured that out yet.

In summary: In September 2026, fomo.family’s crypto KOL marketing wave combined international X voices, English-language Telegram callers and a targeted CIS Telegram push, all built on referral links that give new users 10% off trading fees. During the month, the app’s top-10 Google keywords grew 67% according to Ahrefs, and 12 of 24 core callers in ICODA’s vetted sample were promoting it. ICODA reviewed 112 Telegram listings and tracked 107 calls; the best reached a 44.2x peak within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

KOL stands for key opinion leader. In crypto, a KOL is an influencer whose audience acts on their posts: traders, analysts, callers and community figures on X, Telegram and YouTube. In memecoin markets, the most influential KOLs are callers who share token picks with their followers in real time.

KOL marketing is promotion through people the target audience already trusts. In crypto, it usually means referral links, sponsored posts, AMAs or native product reviews on X and Telegram. It works best when the KOL actually uses the product, as fomo.family’s callers did with their own trading profiles.

Influencers are measured by reach and follower count. Key opinion leaders are trusted for expertise in one niche, which puts them closer to thought leaders. In crypto, opinion leaders such as callers and analysts can move a token with one post; blockchain influencers with lifestyle audiences rarely can.

fomo is a venture-backed company: Benchmark led its $17M Series A, and its $75M Series B valued it at $550M. The iOS app holds a 4.8 rating from 23K reviews and states that users keep custody of their crypto. Do not confuse it with FomoPeek, a different iOS app whose malicious versions were tied to about $580K in stolen crypto in September 2026, according to SlowMist. App security is only part of the risk: memecoin trading itself is highly volatile.

Each user gets a personal referral link, with the referral code built into the URL. On fomo.family, traders who sign up through that link get 10% off trading fees, and the referring KOL gets followers who can see and copy their trades. That gives the KOL a long-term reason to keep promoting the app.

Check whether the channel publishes original calls or just ads and airdrops, compare median views to subscriber count, and test past calls against price charts. In our sample, only about 30 of 112 listings were real callers, and CIS channels had nearly twice the view rate of international callers.

They do different jobs. X builds awareness through large accounts like Ansem and Wu Blockchain, while Telegram converts because posts reach a smaller, more engaged audience directly. fomo.family’s September wave used both platforms, with a targeted CIS Telegram push on top.
